Today this amazing place turns 145 years old! The largest museum in the Western Hemisphere with over 5 million works of art (of which only 1/3 are on display at one time), it is truly one of my favorite places in NYC. In celebration, I spent this past Saturday sketching some of the sculptures. I enjoy sketching the sculptures because you can walk around them and they’re displayed in galleries with natural light. I always stop in to see my favorite pieces (John Singer Sargent, Van Gogh) and I always stumble upon something new (the cool room with the armor!)
