I call myself a “classically truanted artist”. I draw, I paint, photography. But I’ve worked in the fashion industry for over 20 years. Experience provides you with great knowledge and I’m excited to be teaching drawing as well as digital to students at Parsons Fashion.
During our drawing sessions I always draw a bit with the students to help illustrate what we’re working on. Here is a quick sketch done with focus on draping on the live model. I vividly remember drawing from the live model while in art school and to this day it is one of the things I love to do most. The immediacy and energy allows for good development of techniques.
My style still tends to be a bit more traditional, where as fashion sketching techniques lean more to being stylized and somewhat exaggerated. Part of my philosophy is that being able to start with a traditional view leads to being able to develop your own style and this is what I emphasize to my students.
