Impressionism

As previously mentioned, my greatest inspiration for art comes from the Renaissance. There is something about the grandeur and heroic nature of the pieces, coupled with the genius of the artists pushing the boundaries into new territories. That being said, I have studied other periods and I have great admiration for them all. Some I don’t understand and others I relate to after having studied them and participated in their execution.

I think the impressionists are the perfect combination of classical and modern art forms. The work is mainly representative, but it’s about capturing the moment quickly. The artists were talented and relied on not only classical inspiration, but often worked together to as a group to further their period. Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, et al captured their moments with movement, color and bold strokes. Also, much of the subject matter related to every day life. All of this is, in my opinion, is one of the main reasons that Impressionism is so popular. Great artists, relatable subject matter, beautiful colors and striking composition… anyone can enjoy the work just for what it is; beautiful.
